Challenge number 8

Trade is the topic of this week’s challenge. You will have to research Spain’s commercial relations with other countries and answer the following questions:
QUESTION 1
Who are Spain’s major trade partners? What five countries receive the highest percentage of Spain’s exports? From what five countries does Spain import the most products?
QUESTION 2
What products does Spain export to other countries? What products does Spain import?
QUESTION 3
What are Spain’s commercial relations with the USA? What kind of products does Spain export to the USA? What kind of products does Spain import from the USA? Does Spain have a deficit or surplus trade balance with the USA?
QUESTION 4
Economy and politics are closely linked many times. Why is Spanish official policy so generous towards countries such as Equatorial GuineaLibya or Saudi Arabia? What commercial interests does Spain have in these countries?

Question 1:
The Spain's major trade partners are the countries of the UE, after Asia and then Africa and America.The five countries which receive the highest percentage of Spain’s exports are France with 19.3%, Germany with 11.8%, Portugal with 8.7%, Italy with 8% and U.K. with 6.7%.
The five countries which Spain import the most products are Germany with 14.5%, France with 11.1%, Italy with 7.4%, China with 6.2%, U.K. with 4.5%, Netherlands with 4.4%

Question 2:
Spain exports mainly machinery, motor vehicles, chemicals, shipbuilding, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and medicines, other consumer goods.
And Spain imports mainly fuels, chemicals, semifinished goods, Machinery and equipment, foodstuffs, consumer goods, measuring and medical control instruments.

Question 3:
Spain imports from the USA 6.2% of its imports and exports 3.9% of its exports.
Spain exports to the USA industrial technology, chemical products, environment and energy production...
Spain imports also tobacco and information and telecommunications technology mainly.
But the in the trade balance between the USA and Spain, Spain lose money, Spain lost 3,331,042$ last year so we have deficit.

Question 4:
That's true. Spain is genereous with that countries because they have fuels such as petroleum or gas and we don't have so as we need it Spain has to be generous with that countries.

I think that question three is not very good, if I find something more I'll post it.

Question 1:

-The major trade partners of Spain are France, Germany; the UK, Portugal, Italy, China, the USA and Netherlands.
-The five countries that receive the highest percentage of Spain's exports are France (32%), Germany (19%), Portugal (15%), Italy (14%) adn the U.K. (12%)
-Spain buy products of Germany (30%),France(23%), Italy(16%), China (13%) and The U.K. (9%)

Question 2:

-The main products that Spain exports are:
*Food and live animals
*Beverages and tobacco
*Crude materials, inedible, except fuels
*Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials
*Animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes
*Chemicals and related products.
-Spain imports a great number of quality goods into the United Sates. Spain imports pretty much everything that they could possibly need due to their GDP. They import everything from gas to oil to cars to bottled water to foods and clothes. Spain has one of the biggest account deficits in the entire world.

Question 3:

Spain under Zapatero turned its focus to Europe from the United States, pursuing a middle road in dealing with tensions between Western powers and Islamic populations.
Spain exports to the USA technological products,energy...we import tobacco and technology to from USA.
-Spain has a deficit in commercial relations between USA. We export 5,509 products to USA but we buy 8,034, so here is the problem.

Question 4:
They are closed because we have many commercial agreements with these countries.We don't buy only exotic products of these countries, we buy from it fuel.

Hello Javi and Dani. I´ve read your answers and this week´s winner is Javi, as Kelly has said. Javi´s answer to question 4 is more right: the Spanish government and companies "close their eyes" to dictators and violations of human rights because of the products they buy and sell to those countries.
