Today in Social Sciences at the beginning of the lesson we have started withthe Russian Revolutions. We have seen two images with soldiers and a phrase. The first point was the Russia under the tsars. At the beginning of the 20th century Russia was an autocracy (absolut monarchy) the tsar ruled as an absolute monarch : he concentrated a elot of powers, there was not Parliament and there were no elections.Tsar Nicolas II concentrated a lot of power, political parties were forbbiden and peasants were the majority of the population. Russia was an inmense empire, but politically, economically and socially backwards with respect to Western Europe. The parties that had appeared were_ Constitutional Democrat Party, the Socialist Revolutionary Party and the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, a Marxist party divided into two factions. Then, the teacher had speak about the legend of Anastasia. She said that it wasn't true, because after the end of the revolution they found the bones and they were translated to a cathedral. we continued speakean about the 1905 revolution. The Russian defeated against Japan in the Russo-Japanese war, showed Russia backwardness and encouraged protests.
-January 1905: a demostration of workers asking for better working conditions was brutally repressed by the army: 200 people was killed.
-The revolt extended to other parts of the country.
-Soviets appeared and triend to coordinate the protests. -The Tsar promissed to make some reforms, but he didn't keep his promises. The we have speak about Russia during the World War 1.
Was a total disaster for the Russian army: they suffered continous defeats against the Germans, who conquered a large amount oh Russian territories. The Tsar took personal command of the army and he was considerated to be the responsible of the disaster. At least, two million Russians soldiers and two million of civillian were killed during the war. The mobilization of of millions of peasants reduced the harvests and provoke a shortage of food, an increase of prices and hunger. Increasing desertions in the army and strikes in the cities. Soviets reappeared and organized protests. To do a summaty of this, Paqui has written five questions.

2.Which where the main political parties?
3. Explain what happened during the 1905 revolution and itrs consequences.
